The Ocean Basket in Limassol hosted the Annual Cyprus Rugby Federation Dinner, Saturday 21st January 2012.
During the evening, CRF President Lavrentios Vasiliades outlined to guests the achievements of the Federation and what had happened in the area of development, as well as the work that had taken place after the CRF had taken over the Cyprus League.
With huge steps in media relations and marketing, the CRF are making huge strides to raise the profile of rugby on island.
After thanking the voluntary committee members for their efforts over the last 12 months, the President went on to award Honorary CRF Ambassador status to the following individuals with a few words on each, highlighting their significant contribution in support of the CRF:
Basil Billis
Basil with Ocean Basket, we are forever indebted for your sponsorship over the last 2 seasons. Always available to offer not only financial support but advice and ideas on how to promote and develop the game of rugby on island. We thank you and your team for the ongoing support you show our players, members and fans of rugby.
Aris Sacorafos
Mr Aris Sacorafos has been assisting the CRF from the beginning. LTV has contributed immensely in the promotion of rugby on the island both home and abroad. Our first International game against Greece was broadcast by LTV both here and abroad. The contribution of Aris in promoting rugby on the island has been immense both in relation to international games and tournaments, as well as domestic rugby events
Evros Efrem
Mr Evros Efraim is honoured today for his contribution to the sport of rugby. When the Pafos Tigers were looking for a home, he took it upon himself to assist in not only providing the local municipality pitch at Tala but through his initiatives and efforts allowed the renovation of the pitch to be funded by municipality funds. The Pafos Tigers pitch in Tala is a jewel with all necessary amenities and will contribute to the improvement and increase of the rugby following in Pafos.
Jonathan Twort
Avid rugby follower and a fan of Cyprus rugby, he made contact through our media officer and asked to get involved to help promote the game of rugby.
