Cyprus Rugby's initiative to establish an international women's team advanced further with today's announcement of the inaugural women's training camp.
The first full contact training session for women in April 2025 paved the way for a dedicated schedule of women's training sessions and events to follow, culminating in the first women's full contact games being played in Cyprus on Saturday 4 April 2026. This historical event not only boosted the ambitions of the Cyprus Rugby Federation to launch an international women's team, it expanded women's sport in Cyprus.
Now, the Cyprus Federation is proud to announce the first-ever women's open training camp, taking place in the UK:
📅 Saturday 2 May 2026
🕤 09:30 - 15:00
The training camp is open to all women eligible to represent Cyprus. Eligibility rules are as follows:
You were born in Cyprus (excluding sovereign base areas)
Your parents or grandparents were born in Cyprus (excluding sovereign base areas)
You've lived in Cyprus for 5 years continuously (excluding sovereign base areas), up to and including when your eligibility is submitted to World Rugby
If you qualify and would like to represent Cyprus in women's rugby, please contact our Team Manager, Christy Yiannoudes, via email to women-teammanager@cyprus-rugby.com.
