Cyprus Rugby Federation signs MoU with UAE Rugby Federation


Cyprus Rugby Federation's President, Constantinos Constantinides, and United Arab Emirates Rugby Federation's Secretary-General, His Excellency Mr Mohamed Sultan Al-Zaabi, sign a Memorandum of Understanding on 8 July 2021 in Limassol

On 8 July 2021 our President, Constantinos Constantinides, met the Secretary-General of United Arab Emirates Rugby Federation, His Excellency Mr Mohamed Sultan Al-Zaabi, in Limassol, where discussions were held, and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both parties. The meeting signalled the launch of a new strategic partnership that will result in well-developed and well-established rugby structure in UAE & Cyprus, by mutually sharing professional expertise and knowledge regarding strategic expansions, governance, rugby development, compliance, performance, and league administration in the general development of 7’s & 15’s a-side National Teams.


Mr Al-Zaabi, UAE Rugby Secretary-General said, “I’m pleased to have met Mr. Constantinos, Cyprus Rugby President, and to exchange talks around possible future investment opportunities in light of an amicable agreement, we are committed to improving the performance of all our members, players, staff and affiliates, this opportunity will provide our national players with an overseas exposure to training camps and that aids performance”.


Mr Al-Zaabi is also thankful for the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation and the General Authority of Sports to ensure alignment of the agreement to Sports’ International Standards.


Mr Constantinides said of the new partnership, “This Strategic Partnership with the UAE Rugby Federation will bring about development opportunities on many levels and we are all very excited about the potential it has for growth of the sport. Rugby is the winner”.


The launch of this new cooperation is an exciting opportunity for both federations and we look forward to the future!
